Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer announced today that they will bring The James Zadroga 9-11 Health and Compensation Act to the floor for a vote next week. This bill provides funding for a health initiative to monitor and treat responders and community residents for health conditions related to the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks and compensation for those physically injured by those attacks or by response activities and debris removal.

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi joined senior Members of Congress and small business owners and advocates at an enrollment ceremony at the Capitol this afternoon to sign H.R. 5297, the Small Business Jobs Act, and send it to President Obama for his signature into law. The House passed the bill earlier this afternoon by a vote of 237 to 187, with only one Republican supporting the measure; the Senate passed the legislation on September 16. Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that, on average, Medicare Advantage premiums will decrease by 1 percent in 2011, while benefits remain the same. Moreover, contrary to expectations, CMS reported that enrollment in Medicare Advantage plans is projected to rise 5 percent next year:
