Washington, DC – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in response to threats by a minister in Florida to burn copies of the Koran, the Islamic holy book, on September 11th.

“As the holy season of Ramadan comes to an end, I join with people of all faiths in denouncing the disrespectful proposal to burn copies of the Koran. Such an action would send a message of intolerance that is inconsistent with the teaching of all faiths and does not reflect the values of our nation.”
