When Women Succeed, America Succeeds
This week, I joined San Francisco women leaders, workers, small-business owners and disability advocates at City Hall to commemorate Women’s Equality Day and the 106th anniversary of the certification of the 19th Amendment. Generations of courageous women organized, demonstrated and sacrificed to secure the right to vote. They were told women would have to wait. Women did not wait.

Restoring the American Dream
Today, I joined Congressman Mike Thompson, Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren and Bay Area community partners to celebrate the passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. While no single federal law can solve our nation's housing crisis overnight, this legislation takes an important step toward lowering costs, expanding our housing supply and helping more families find a safe, affordable place to call home.

Together, we reflected on the extraordinary progress made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, remembered those we have lost and renewed our commitment to the work that remains. The courage of patients, activists, scientists and caregivers has transformed what was once an unimaginable crisis into a story of perseverance, innovation and hope.
