Upholding the Constitution

National Emergency Declaration

President Trump’s emergency declaration proclamation undermines the separation of powers and Congress’s power of the purse, a power exclusively reserved by the text of the Constitution to the first branch of government, the Legislative branch, a branch co-equal to the Executive. We have a solemn responsibility to uphold the Constitution, and defend our system of checks and balances against the President’s assault.

The House of Representatives is taking action to restore our system of checks and balances & reassert Congress’s constitutional responsibilities. This issue is not about politics or partisanship; it is about patriotism.

We Are Here to Help

Have you experienced an unusual delay in the processing of your Department of Veterans Affairs benefits? Do you need assistance with your visa or passport application? If you are experiencing issues with a federal government agency, my office may be able to help.

Each year, my office helps thousands of constituents resolve issues with social security payments, student loans and other problems with federal agencies. In fact, last year my office resolved 520 constituent casework issues. If you would like to make an appointment with a caseworker, please contact my district office at (415) 556-4862.

In addition, my office is proud to provide assistance if you need help with the federal grants processbooking a U.S. Capitol or White House tour or are interested in youth opportunities

My office was contacted by a parent-teacher organization requesting assistance in the revocation of their non-profit status. In working closely with the group and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), my staff was able to confirm the group’s reinstatement of their non-profit 501(c)(3) status, current and retroactive.

Caseworkers in my San Francisco office work to address any problems or concerns you may have with a federal government agency. To submit a Casework Authorization Form, please visit my website.
