Pelosi Update
This week, Congress passed and the President signed legislation to keep the government open for the next two weeks. While I did not support all the cuts within it, it is my hope that this short-term measure will give us the time to do the right thing: to work together to keep our government running in a way that continues our economic recovery, reduces the deficit, and does not undermine education and the future for our children.

This morning, I was pleased to witness the results of our federal investments on a tour of the historic Tenderloin YMCA housing development, which received $54 million from the Recovery Act and will generate 390 jobs in San Francisco.

As we begin the 112th Congress, my number one priority will continue to be putting Americans to work. Each new proposal will be measured by a simple test: does it create jobs? Does it strengthen our middle class? And does it reduce the deficit?
