Cairo, Egypt – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi is leading a Congressional delegation to Egypt that arrived in Cairo last night. Today, the delegation had a constructive meeting with Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, who confirmed to the Leader and delegation that once the presidential election is complete there will be a transition to civilian government.

Cairo, Egypt – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi is leading a Congressional delegation to Egypt that arrived in Cairo last night. Today, the delegation met with Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister Wafaa Bassim. Below are Leader Pelosi’s remarks following the meeting:

Leader Pelosi. We just met with the Deputy Foreign Minister. We covered a wide range of subjects and we had the benefit of her thinking. She was much-praised before we met her and she lived up to all of that.
