Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro introduced the reauthorization of the Paycheck Fairness Act:
"Businesses, families, workers, and our economy benefit when all employees earn an honest day's pay for a full day's work, regardless of gender. Yet, women in the United States are currently earning only 78 cents, on average, for every dollar earned by men – while African American women earn 64 cents and Latinas make a staggering 56 cents for every dollar a man makes.
