Washington, D.C. --- Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement this evening in support of the Tom Lantos and Henry J. Hyde Global Leadership against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria reauthorization act of 2008. The bill, which passed the Senate last week, passed the House this evening by a vote of 303 to 115 and will now go the President for his signature into law.

Washington, D.C. -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke on the House floor this afternoon in support of the American Housing Rescue and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2008. The legislation passed by a vote of 272 to 152. Below are her remarks:

Washington, D.C. --- Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke on the House floor this afternoon in support of the Drill Responsibly in Leased Lands (DRILL) Act. The measure received strong majority support in a House vote today of 244 to 173, but failed to receive the two-thirds necessary to pass under suspension of the rules. 162 Republicans voted against the proposal, which would increase domestic production of oil and gas on federal lands onshore and offshore. Washington, D.C. - Two years ago, Israeli soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev came under attack and abducted while on routine patrol in northern Israel near the border with Lebanon. The incident triggered the 2006 war between Israel and Lebanon. The return of the bodies of the soldiers this morning concludes a tragic chapter for Israel.
