Washington, D.C. â€" Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in reaction to new economic statistics that show 1.9 million Americans have lost their jobs in the last four months and that the unemployment rate has risen to 7.2 percent, the highest since 1993. In total, 2.6 million jobs were lost in 2008â€"the worst year for employment since 1945.
