“As the holy season of Ramadan comes to an end, I join with people of all faiths in denouncing the disrespectful proposal to burn copies of the Koran. Such an action would send a message of intolerance that is inconsistent with the teaching of all faiths and does not reflect the values of our nation.”

“The House of Representatives has already passed bipartisan legislation to repeal the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ policy, which harms military readiness and morale.

“As this case continues to make its way through the legal process, we reaffirm our commitment to end this discriminatory policy.”
