Leader Pelosi. Good morning. Since we saw each other last – we have had a break during that time – many of us went to Selma for the 50th anniversary of the march. It was a beautiful commemoration. The President spoke so magnificently about what we were observing that day.

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced she is appointing Dr. Kathleen Sullivan Alioto, Dr. George French and Mr. Ralph Wolff to the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI). NACIQI advises the Secretary of Education on matters related to higher education accreditation, and its primary function is to provide recommendations to the Secretary concerning whether accrediting agencies' standards are sufficiently rigorous and effective.

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released the following statement after the Department of Health and Human Services announced that 16.4 million uninsured Americans have gained health insurance coverage since the Affordable Care Act became law nearly five years ago on March 23, 2010:

"Today's report is just the latest evidence that the Affordable Care Act is working. Thanks to this historic law, more than 16 million previously uninsured Americans now have quality, affordable health coverage.
