Pelosi Statement on Need for Syria AUMF and Immediate All-Member Intelligence Briefing

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued this statement calling for Congress to debate an Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) in Syria and an all-Member intelligence briefing on the Administration's Syria strategy:

"When the reported chemical weapons attack in Syria took place, I called upon the Administration for an intelligence briefing on this attack as soon as possible. Democrats continue to call for an immediate, comprehensive intelligence briefing on this attack and the Administration's Syria strategy.

"If the President plans to escalate militarily in Syria, he must come to the Congress to ask for an Authorization for Use of Military Force. The Congress has a solemn responsibility to debate an AUMF. The American people deserve a comprehensive strategy that will keep our military safe and avoid collateral damage."
