Washington, D.C. -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced the Golden Gate National Parks and Technical Corrections bill today. The legislation will rename and redesignate the Golden Gate National Recreation Area as the Golden Gate National Parks. The legislation will also make technical corrections to other park units contained within the Golden Gate National Parks.

Washington, D.C. -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement this afternoon after the House voted 274 to 137 to pass legislation that will help workers who have lost their jobs as a result of an economy on the brink of recession. The Emergency Extended Unemployment Compensation Act passed by a 2/3 majority, a margin large enough to override a threatened veto by President Bush.

Congressman McGovern joins Congressman Frank Wolf of Virginia as Co-Chair and replaces Congressman Tom Lantos, the co-founder of the Human Rights Caucus, who passed away in February.
