In light of the attached notification by the Sergeant-at-Arms, in consultation with the Office of Attending Physician, that a public health emergency is in effect due to a novel coronavirus, I am hereby extending the "covered period" designated on January 4, 2021, pursuant to section 3(s) of House Resolution 8, until the 117th Congress adjourns sine die on January 3, 2023.

Thanks to the leadership and persistence of Chairs Rosa DeLauro and Patrick Leahy, this week the Congress will take up a robust government funding bill that helps meet the needs of America's working families.

Proudly, Democrats' tenacious negotiating has yielded a significant increase in non-defense discretionary funding — larger than the boost we won in last March's government funding bill. This means that we will be able to make historic investments in our families, workers and communities.
