San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement on the passing of Dr. Fang Lizhi, 76, a Chinese human rights leader and a Physicist at the University of Arizona. Dr. Fang was a leading proponent of democratic reform in China in the late 1980s. His leadership helped spark the pro-democracy movement in China and inspired thousands of Chinese citizens to advocate for freedom and human rights.

Washington, D.C. - Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after the Department of Labor announced that the economy added 120,000 jobs and the unemployment rate fell slightly to 8.2 percent in March. With private businesses adding 121,000 jobs, this marks the 25th consecutive month of private sector job growth:

"Today's report is another sign that while the private sector is creating jobs, we have more work to do on behalf of our workers, our families, and our middle class.
