Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement upon Senate passage of an emergency supplemental package to provide aid for Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts. The measure passed the Senate on a bipartisan vote of 62 to 32.

"Our fellow Americans are waiting for relief to rebuild their homes, businesses, communities and lives after the ravages of Hurricane Sandy. Now that the Senate has acted on the Sandy disaster relief bill, the House must do the same immediately.

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after the Department of Education awarded a $6 million Promise Neighborhood implementation grant to San Francisco’s Mission District and Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) as part of a five-year grant. In July, Leader Pelosi wrote Education Secretary Arnie Duncan supporting the grant application. Mission Promise Neighborhood received a $500,000 planning grant from Promise Neighborhoods in 2011.
