Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after the Republican Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Jason Chaffetz, threatened to shut down the independent Office of Government Ethics and demanded its Director, Walter Shaub Jr., testify before his committee in a secret hearing. Director Shaub had said publically that President-elect Trump's plan for his business was "wholly inadequate" to protect the incoming president from conflicts of interest.

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the mass shooting at the Fort Lauderdale International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida:

"Today, five Americans lost their lives and many more were wounded in a mass shooting at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. We are grateful for the first responders who are providing aid and comfort to the injured survivors and the families of those who were killed in this gun violence tragedy.

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after the Department of Labor announced that the economy added a total of 156,000 jobs in December. With 144,000 private sector jobs being added in December, the economy has added a total of 15.8 million private sector jobs since early 2010.

"The economy continues to move forward, but December's jobs report reiterates the need for Congress to come together and take bold action to create more good-paying jobs.

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released this statement following the release of excerpts from an Intelligence community report confirming that Russia launched a campaign to influence the results of the recent U.S. election. Pelosi, the longest serving Member of the House Intelligence Committee, is a former Ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.
