Pelosi Statement on Trump Administration Discriminatory Rule on Federal Contractors

Washington, D.C. — Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after the Trump Labor Department finalized a sweeping last-minute regulation allowing federal contractors to discriminate against minorities, women and LGBTQ Americans:
"This discriminatory Trump regulation is an act of cruelty that cynically twists bedrock American civil rights laws to undermine the rights, dignity and well-being of the very people they are designed to protect. As it abandons workers and the most vulnerable communities, the Trump Administration is giving big corporations the power to fire and destroy the livelihoods of potentially millions of Americans, all at taxpayers' expense.
"Sadly but clearly, this lame duck President is using his final moments in office to attack protections for federal contractors, workers' and families' health, financial security and well-being. Our Democratic House Majority, working alongside the new Biden-Harris Administration, will work to reverse this and other hateful Trump anti-worker policies, and we will fight tirelessly to protect the rights and well-being of all people in our country."
