Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement ahead of House Republicans’ unveiling of the regulatory reform portion of the so-called “A Better Way” agenda:

"The latest plank of House Republicans’ Wrong Way agenda is nothing more than a wish list for polluters, unscrupulous financial advisors, and Wall Street.  It will do nothing to create jobs in our country.

“This special interest Republican agenda would poison the air we breathe and the water we drink, while rolling back critical protections for American consumers and taking the cops off the Wall Street beat.  Republicans would block the overtime rule and make it harder for workers to get the bigger paychecks their long hours have earned.  They would undermine innovation and fairness on the internet by ending Net Neutrality – whose constitutionality was resoundingly affirmed by a ruling of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals earlier today.

“The Wrong Way agenda is just the latest evidence that House Republicans have no ideas and no interest in creating good-paying jobs and raising the wages of hard-working American families.  Instead of helping the special interests eliminate critical protections for the health and financial security of Americans, Republicans should join Democrats to invest in the engines of job creation: infrastructure, innovation and education.”
