Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released this statement after the House voted to adopt freshman Congressman Colin Allred’s H. Res. 271, a resolution condemning the Trump Administration’s assault on people with pre-existing conditions and affordable health care in the courts, and calling on the Department of Justice to reverse its position in the Texas v. U.S. lawsuit. 185 Republicans voted against the resolution:

“Once again, House Republicans have shown that they are full accomplices in President Trump’s campaign to destroy protections for people with pre-existing conditions and take away Americans’ health care.

“House Democrats will fight relentlessly in court and in the Congress to protect and strengthen these lifesaving protections from the GOP’s attacks.  While Republicans try to rip away affordable health care, Democrats will be working to lower health costs and prescription drug prices for all.”
