Love, Support and Healing
On Paul's Release from the Hospital
The Pelosi family is thankful for the beautiful outpouring of love, support and prayers from around the world.
Paul is grateful to the 911 operator, emergency responders, trauma care team, ICU staff, and the entire ZSFGH medical staff for their excellent and compassionate life-saving treatment he received after the violent assault in our home.
Paul remains under doctors' care as he continues to progress on a long recovery process and convalescence. He is now home surrounded by his family who request privacy.
Funding for San Francisco's Infrastructure
Today, Mayor London Breed announced that the Port of San Francisco will receive a $9.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Thanks to President Biden and the Democratic Congress, this investment will allow the Port to make urgently needed upgrades to Amador Street – providing greener, more resilient road access to our Southern Waterfront.
With this new funding, the Port will be able to rehabilitate a key roadway while bolstering stormwater drainage, removing toxic railroad ties and improving the surrounding landscape. It was my privilege to fight for this federal investment alongside our Bay Area Delegation as Democrats continue to deliver vital infrastructure improvements in communities across the nation.
Open Enrollment
Democrats believe that quality, affordable health care is a right – not a privilege – for every American. That is why House Democrats worked tirelessly with President Obama to enact the Affordable Care Act – a landmark achievement that stands alongside Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security as a pillar of health and financial security.
Now, thanks to President Biden and Democrats in Congress, health care is more affordable and accessible than ever before. Powered by the American Rescue Plan, our nation has slashed families' insurance premiums and enrolled a record number of Americans in life-changing coverage under the ACA. And with our Inflation Reduction Act, Democrats locked in those low premiums for another three years.
Now is the time to take advantage of these historic achievements. Through December 15th, Californians can enroll in affordable, quality health coverage through Covered California, our state's ACA health insurance marketplace. Nine out of ten Californians who sign up receive financial assistance – fill out an application here!

Healthy Holiday Tips for San Franciscans
According to the San Francisco Department of Public Health, this winter could bring a resurgence in both influenza and COVID-19 cases. The Department is encouraging residents to prepare by getting up-to-date on their vaccines and connecting with a health care provider to learn if you are eligible for COVID-19 treatments.
Below are some additional steps to stay healthy this winter:
- Get the COVID-19 bivalent booster, now available for those aged five years and older if it has been at least two months since their last dose
- Get the influenza vaccine, available for those aged 6 months and older
- Get connected to a health care provider in case you get sick
- Know in advance if you would benefit from treatment with a medicine for COVID-19, as these medicines must be started early
- Stock up on COVID-19 rapid test kits – those with insurance are able to get at-home tests for free or be reimbursed
- Keep a well-fitted mask on hand for crowded, indoor spaces (N95 or KN95 masks are best) Wash hands frequently
- If you have cold symptoms, avoid contact with those at the highest risk of getting sick, such as infants
- Make a backup plan for travel, caregiving and other responsibilities
- Importantly, stay home when sick
