Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered remarks at the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE Awards Ceremony this morning at the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. The X PRIZE is awarded to the first team to build a car that gets at least 100 MPG equivalent in real world driving, is safe, and offers consumers more efficient vehicle choices. Washington, D.C. – Below is a statement from Drew Hammill, spokesman for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, on the renewable energy and transmission loan-guarantee program. $1.5 billion from this fund was used by the Senate to pay for the jobs legislation passed by the House today and an additional $2 billion from the fund was used to pay for the Cash for Clunkers initiative last year.

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the House introduction of the oil spill response package, which will be considered on the floor later this week. The package includes: the revised Consolidated Land, Energy, and Aquatic Resources (CLEAR) Act, estimated by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office to reduce the deficit by $5.3 billion over the next five years; and the Offshore Oil and Gas Worker Whistleblower Protection Act:
