Washington, D.C. - Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered remarks at a ceremony this afternoon in the Capitol to dedicate a plaque for the heroes of United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed on September 11, 2001. Below are the Speaker's remarks as prepared:

"Today we gather to unveil a marker of bravery; to remember acts of unmatched courage; and to recall the men and women of United Airlines Flight 93 - some of the true heroes of September 11, 2001.

With this plaque, the memories of the heroes of Flight 93 will forever remain etched in the walls of the U.S. Capitol - as a beacon of hope in the heart and soul of our democracy.

Their names will be forever etched in the hearts of their families and loved ones - and now on a plaque in our nation's temple of freedom, where all who visit can honor their sacrifice.

Their heroic deeds are their true memorial. Their bravery, their sacrifice, their willingness to put their lives on the line to protect victims unknown and families unseen - these will be their eternal monument and their enduring contribution.

For those of us who work here in the Capitol - the target of Flight 93 - we will remain eternally grateful for the heroes of that flight, for their courage and character.

May God bless their memory. May God bless us all with their strength. May God continue to bless the United States of America."
