Washington D.C. â€" House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on President Bush’s proposal to drop the Social Security survivor benefit from his 2007 federal budget:

"In moments of crisis, the Social Security survivor benefit can make all the difference to a grieving family. Once again, President Bush wants to tear down Social Security by slashing earned benefits, and tear at the social fabric of our country with cruel cuts when families need help the most. Democrats will fight the President's anti-widow and anti-children agenda."
