Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued this statement on October 5, the last day for DACA recipients to re-enroll under the Trump Administration’s arbitrary 30-day deadline:
“Tomorrow, because of the Trump Administration’s arbitrary and unreasonable 30-day re-enrollment deadline, tens of thousands of patriotic young men and women will be unable to renew the vital DACA status that protects their American Dream.
“The Administration must immediately stop endangering the futures of our DREAMers. Democrats are urging the Trump Administration to immediately and, if necessary, retroactively extend the filing deadline, and to protect the young people who make America more American. At a bare minimum, the renewal deadline should be extended into 2018.
“It is long past time to end the uncertainty, and to bring the DREAM Act to an immediate vote. Democrats urge our Republican colleagues to listen to the will of faith leaders, the business community and the overwhelming majority of Americans, and join us to pass the DREAM Act and protect our DREAMers.”
