Pelosi Statement on the Passing of Bernard Schwartz
“Paul and I received the news of the passing of our good friend, Bernard Schwartz, with great sadness.
“Bernard was a patriotic force for good in America. It was his selflessness that inspired his service in the Army Air Corps during World War II, joining the fight to defend democracy. Here at home, his voice was trusted: whether in building the infrastructure of America in which his knowledge was unsurpassed, or shaping public policy for a generation, especially in his beloved state of New York. In all that he did — in his business, in his advocacy and in his personal life — Bernard led in the fight for our most cherished values.
“Bernard’s leadership and goodness touched the lives of many Americans, and his passing is a tremendous loss for our nation. May it be a comfort to his wife Denise, his daughters Karen and Francesca, his beloved grandchildren, and the entire Schwartz family that his many friends in Congress and across the country join them in mourning during this sad time.”
