Washington, D.C. â€" Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fourth Assessment Report:

â€Å"This report renews our charge to enact strong policies to address our energy security and stem the tide of global warming. It warns us that those most at risk are the world’s ‘poor, young children, the elderly and ill,’ reminding us that taking action to impose mandatory emissions quotas is not only a sound policy decision, but a moral decision we have no choice but to make.

â€Å"I applaud the work of the IPCC and congratulate Rajendra Pachauri and his colleagues on the Nobel Peace Prize. I look forward to a productive outcome from next month’s U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change in Bali.”
