San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after President Trump moved to selectively declassify portions of the surveillance application that authorized the FBI to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and other classified and highly sensitive law enforcement and intelligence materials:

"The President's selective release of Carter Page's surveillance application and other classified and highly sensitive materials is desperate, dangerous and deliberately misleading. The President is potentially risking the lives of our patriots by compromising sources and methods, all so he can advance falsehoods and false narratives that distract from the truth of the Trump-Russia scandal.

"Special Counsel Mueller's investigation has now returned 32 indictments, six guilty pleas and the guilty conviction of Trump's campaign manager by a jury of his peers. This investigation is working, and must be allowed to continue to do its job free from the White House and GOP's interference.

"We are 50 days away from the midterm elections. As Commander-in-Chief, the President should be protecting the integrity of our elections, not peddling conspiracy theories."
