Pelosi Statement on Treasury Decision on Central States Teamsters Pension Plan Fund

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after the Treasury Department announced its decision on the Central States Teamsters Pension Plan Fund:

“Protecting retirees and strengthening the economic security of working families is a core priority for House Democrats.

"Although the Treasury Department's decision today protected the Central States Teamsters from proposed cuts to their earned pensions in the short-term, this fund remains in critical status, and until we address the underlying problems, pensions will be at risk – for Central States participants and others.

“A secure retirement is the right of every hard-working American. Congress must come together in a bipartisan, bicameral fashion to strengthen the retirement benefits system in the years to come to ensure the promise of a dignified retirement for all of America’s workers.”
