Pelosi Statement on the Supreme Court Decision on Trump’s Muslim Ban

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after the Supreme Court handed down a 5-4 decision in Hawaii v. Trump, upholding the President's Muslim ban:

"The Supreme Court's dangerous ruling undermines our values, our security and our Constitution. No matter how many times the President rewrites his un-American Muslim ban, it won't change the fact that this historic injustice is immoral and dangerous.

"President Trump's cruel ban weakens our fight against terror and hands our enemies a powerful new recruiting tool, making America less safe, not more. The President's disdain for our values and the safety of the American people has led him to undermine relationships with critical allies, embrace autocrats and dictators, launch damaging trade wars and sow fear in our communities with his hateful, ugly language.

"Whether tearing children from their parents at the border or advancing a ban founded on open bigotry, President Trump is making our nation less safe at home and less respected abroad. Democrats will continue to push to defend our nation with policies that are strong and smart, not reckless, rash and prejudiced. Democrats will continue to champion our nation's heritage as a beacon of hope, freedom and opportunity for all, regardless of race, religion or country of origin."
