San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after the deadly shooting at a video game tournament at Jacksonville Landing in Jacksonville, Florida wounded 11 and took the lives of 2 individuals:

"Once again, the daily scourge of gun violence has stolen innocent lives, and left another American community grieving and heartbroken. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and the entire Jacksonville community, and our deep gratitude goes out to the heroic first responders who provided aid and comfort to those in need.

"But our thoughts and prayers are not enough. As we continue to learn new details about today's horrific shooting, Congress must stop stalling and act to protect Americans from the gun violence epidemic, and ensure no other family or community has to endure this unspeakable pain. Every day it fails to act is a stain on our nation.

"May it bring some level of comfort to the friends and loved ones of those whose lives were cruelly cut short that so many mourn with them at this difficult time."
