Pelosi Statement on the Retirement of Congressman Heath Shuler

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after Congressman Heath Shuler announced he would not seek reelection:

"Congressman Heath Shuler has been a national leader for fiscal responsibility who has always maintained a laserlike focus on his constituents in western North Carolina.

"Coming to the House with experience as both a businessman and as a leader, Congressman Shuler quickly got to work to strengthen our nation. He has been a voice for small business, encouraging entrepreneurship, and on the Transportation Committee, an advocate for investing in our nation's infrastructure and rebuilding America.

"Congressman Shuler will be missed by his colleagues on both sides of the aisle. We wish him the best in his next steps."
