Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after Congressman Brad Miller announced that he would not seek reelection this year:
“For the past decade, Congressman Brad Miller has earned a reputation as a committed advocate for the working families of North Carolina’s 13th district, a dedicated champion of our middle class and small businesses, a leader for fiscal responsibility, and a strong voice for fairness and opportunity for America’s consumers.
“A proud son of Fayetteville, Congressman Miller has always put his constituents first; in answering the call to serve his community, he strengthened our nation. On the Financial Services Committee, he worked to expand protections for struggling homeowners and consumers, and helped lead the charge to crack down on predatory lenders. On the Science and Technology Committee, he acted to invest in innovation and research, fighting to lay the foundations of the industries and economy of tomorrow.
“Congressman Miller’s leadership and friendship will be missed by his fellow House Democrats and by colleagues on both sides of the aisle. We wish him and his family well in their future endeavors.”
