Washington, D.C. - House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in commemoration of the Lunar New Year, which begins this Sunday, January 29:
?Today, I want to take the opportunity to commemorate the start of the Lunar New Year and help usher in the Year of the Dog. As Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) around the world celebrate the beginning of the New Year with new hopes and dreams for the future, we are reminded of how these aspirations have helped make our country stronger.
?This special time of renewal and thanksgiving, celebrated with family and friends is considered a time to sweep away the old misfortunes of the past in order to welcome prosperity, good luck, and excellent health for the future.
