San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released the following statement regarding the expiration of the Export-Import Bank's charter at midnight tonight:

"Once again, the Republican Leadership has chosen to blow past another vital deadline – once again endangering hundreds of thousands of American jobs and harming our ability to compete and succeed overseas. Thanks to Republicans' refusal to act, the Export-Import Bank's charter will expire at midnight, leaving many American workers, manufacturers and small businesses in the lurch.

"Instead of standing with American manufacturers, small businesses, and workers trying to export their goods overseas, the Republican Congress is trying to shut down the Export-Import Bank. Just since 2007, the Bank has created or sustained 1.5 million American jobs at no cost to taxpayers. Yet, Republicans voted four times in recent months to block an extension of the Bank's charter.

"Washington Republicans should end their cycle of obstruction, dysfunction and distraction and join Democrats in building a better future for all hard-working Americans."
