Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on yesterday’s powerful earthquake in eastern Turkey:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends, and loved ones of all of the victims of the devastating earthquake in Turkey, and with all those affected by this natural disaster.

“Members of Congress and the American people have been struck by the images of destruction across villages, communities, and homes in eastern Turkey. And we stand firmly behind the efforts to rescue and treat survivors, deliver aid, food, and shelter to the victims, and begin the process of recovery.

“In this time of crisis, Americans offer our heartfelt condolences to the people of Turkey.”
