Washington, D.C. - House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement to commemorate the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor:

?At dawn on this day in 1941, America was attacked on our own soil, without provocation and without just cause.

?On that day which lives in infamy, more than 2,400 Americans died, but also the strength and courage of our troops was demonstrated. Rather than dealing our nation a crippling blow, the attack on Pearl Harbor deepened our resolve to stand for freedom and against injustice. It was that commitment that led our troops to victory in World War II and that we remember and honor today. It is that commitment that still lives in today's American soldiers.

?Today we remember our troops around the world, still standing and fighting for freedom and our American way of life. Our support of these brave men and women in uniform should no less than equal their sacrifices in defense of our great nation. May God bless our troops and our great nation.?
