Pelosi Statement on Supreme Court Environmental Protection Agency Case

San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the Supreme Court's decision in Michigan v. EPA:

"Today's Supreme Court decision puts polluters before people, creating new obstacles for the Environmental Protection Agency's mission to protect our health and environment.

"The EPA has long taken bold and reasonable steps to limit toxins in our air and water, but this disappointing ruling will delay important protections under the bipartisan Clean Air Act.

"The American people want us to take seriously our moral obligation to preserve the beauty of God's creation for future generations. Thankfully, this decision will not affect the President's Clean Power Plan, but we must continue to work together to reduce harmful carbon pollution and limit the effects of the global climate crisis."
