Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after House Republicans voted for the sixth time to block Democrats' measure to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank, whose charter Republicans allowed to expire in July:
"Once again, Republicans have chosen to put their radical ideology ahead of American workers. Republicans' continuing refusal to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank is costing jobs and crippling American competitiveness in the global economy.
"Republicans should stop driving toward another destructive government shutdown and join Democrats to empower American manufacturers and small businesses to compete and succeed overseas.
"Hard-working Americans deserve better than a Republican Congress that keeps pulling the rug out from under them. It's long past time for Republicans to join Democrats to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank and support good-paying jobs across the country."
