Pelosi Statement on Shooting in Chattanooga

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today on the tragic shootings at the Naval Operational Support Center and at an Armed Forces Recruiting Center in Chattanooga:

"Today's shooting in Chattanooga is a devastating tragedy for the families, servicemembers, law enforcement officials, and civilians at these two facilities.

"Those who join our Armed Forces do so out of a deep and abiding faith in our great democracy. Our servicemembers have sacrificed so much to keep our country safe. They should never have to face the forces of violence here at home. We must honor their sacrifices and selflessness by ensuring they are safe here and abroad.

"The entire United States Congress stands with the members of our military every day. We offer our prayers and condolences to the victims and survivors of this horrible attack and to their families."
