Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after Senate Republicans blocked action on President Obama’s American Jobs Act:

“Tonight, Senate Republicans voted unanimously to block the American Jobs Act, standing in the way of job creation and economic growth.

“The American Jobs Act focuses squarely on putting people back to work; strengthening small businesses so they can grow and hire; rebuilding America’s roads, bridges, and schools; and keeping teachers, firefighters, and police officers on the job. And it is fully paid for.

“Republicans – in the House and Senate – continue to delay and block action on this critical measure, refusing to address Americans’ top priority: jobs. It’s time for Republicans to work with Democrats to pass the American Jobs Act and create jobs now.”
