Washington, D.C. - Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius to serve as the next Health and Human Services Secretary:

â€Å"I congratulate Governor Kathleen Sebelius on her confirmation by the Senate to serve as our nation's Health and Human Services Secretary. Governor Sebelius' strong leadership and extensive experience is greatly needed as the nation confronts the public health emergency caused by the swine flu virus and the need to pass comprehensive health care reform this year.
