Pelosi Statement on Senate Cloture Vote on the China Currency Bill

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after the Senate voted to move forward to a final vote on the bipartisan Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act:

“In a bipartisan vote, the Senate moved closer to passing legislation that would help to create one million manufacturing jobs here at home, strengthen small businesses, and boost our nation’s competitiveness by demanding that China start playing fair on the global stage.

“By demanding that China end its manipulation of its currency, we could level the playing field for American workers and businesses, and cut our trade deficit with China – at no cost to taxpayers.

“Now, is the time for the House Republican leadership to stand with American workers by allowing the House to pass the bipartisan China currency bill, and put more Americans back to work.”
