San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement in recognition of the celebration of Rosh Hashanah:

"Rosh Hashanah, this moment of repentance and introspection, is an opportunity for Jewish families around the world to celebrate a new year and to once again renew the call to repair the world, cherish justice, and seek peace.

"As Jews gather to celebrate with friends and loved ones, to dip apples in honey, to rejoice and reflect, let us join in the hope that this Rosh Hashanah will bring a new year of peace and prosperity to the United States, to Israel and to all people of goodwill across the globe.

"Shana tovah u'metukah – may you have a happy, healthy, sweet new year."
