Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released this statement today following Republicans' 238 to 183 vote to pass H.R. 7, which limits women's access to full reproductive health care:
"Days after the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and after millions of women marched to have their voices heard, House Republicans are continuing their dangerous crusade to put the government in charge of women's bodies and put bureaucrats in charge of families' private health decisions.
"While every single House Republican voted to limit women's reproductive health care options – including this attempt to take away the comprehensive private health insurance coverage millions of women already have – Democrats continue to stand firm in our fight to defend a woman's constitutional right to make her own reproductive health decisions, in consultation with her family, her physician, and her faith.
"Every American woman should be able to make her own health decisions with dignity and respect, and without the interference of politicians or employers."
