Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released the following statement on the President's newly-announced plan to address America's child care affordability crisis and help more working families access high-quality child care.

"When America's children have access to high-quality child care, hardworking parents can focus on earning. Affordable child care is the linchpin of working parents' success and a long-standing cornerstone of House Democrats' efforts to empower working families through our ‘When Women Succeed, America Succeeds' economic agenda.

"President Obama's call to make quality child care accessible and affordable for every working and middle-class family with young children, by tripling the maximum child care tax credit and making landmark investments in the Child Care and Development Fund, will be a boon to our economy and our nation's future. The President's plan to increase the child care tax credit would make child care significantly more affordable for millions of families, while building on earlier Administration efforts to make high-quality early education and child care available for all.

"Expanding access to affordable, quality child care is essential to the success of working women, working men, our economy, our families and our future. Democrats will continue to work to strengthen families and provide working women and men with bigger paychecks and better infrastructure."
