Washington, D.C. - Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after President Obama signed the Emergency Border Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, which is fully paid-for and provides a total of $600 million to strengthen border security:

“Today, President Obama signed legislation to strengthen our nation’s border security and invest in the tools, strategies, and personnel needed to reduce violence and protect residents living along our Southwest border.

“Strengthening border security is one of the key pillars of bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform; yet enforcement will not solve our immigration problems alone. Working with the President and leaders from both parties, we must build on today’s progress, using it as a step towards enactment of bipartisan, comprehensive reform.”
