Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the passing of Thomas Hale Boggs, Jr.:

"Thomas H. Boggs, Jr. was one of our nation's leading legal minds – and a passionate advocate for American workers and middle-class families. From his early days as an elevator operator in the halls of Congress to his time as partner at Squire Patton Boggs, he never wavered in his faith in the possibility of our nation.

"Boggs was born into a family who viewed public service as a noble calling, and he carried forward a sterling legacy of dedicated citizenship. We hope that it is a comfort to Barbara, his children, his sister, Cokie Roberts, and the entire Boggs family that so many share their sadness at this difficult time."
