Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the passing of Joseph "Beau" Biden III, son of Vice President Joe Biden, and the former Delaware Attorney General:

"My husband Paul and I are heartbroken at the news of Beau Biden's passing.

"Beau Biden represented the best of America. Time and again, he showed the quality of his character, the strength of his intellect, and the depth of his dedication to leave a better world for his two children.

"Beau Biden's life was driven by service: by the love of justice; by the love of our country, by the love of his family. This loss is a terrible tragedy. Tonight, our deepest sympathies are with the Vice President and Dr. Biden, his wife, Hallie, and the entire Biden family at this very sad time."
