Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on President Obama’s nomination of John Bryson as the next Secretary of Commerce:
“Californians are proud that President Obama has nominated as Commerce Secretary a leader who has made his career in our home state and worked on critical issues facing California. John Bryson is a successful business leader, and he will be an extraordinary, strong, and valuable voice for America’s economic interests as Secretary of Commerce. We look forward to working with John Bryson on promoting jobs and economic growth across our country.
“President Obama’s choice for this critical post reflects his commitment to creating jobs and strengthening our economy; keeping America competitive; reinforcing, solidifying, and extending ties of trade and commerce with our economic partners around the world. We are grateful for Secretary Locke for his service, wish him well as our next ambassador to China, and will work together to build on his legacy with John Bryson at the Commerce Department.”
